AVID

This week AVID Counselor Ms. Lopez spent time going to the AVID 1 -3 classes to review grade point averages and transcripts with students for semester one grades, updated their A -G matrix each student has, and provided information about the upcoming registration process that will be happening on campus during the next few weeks.  Additionally, our AVID seniors are beginning to hear from UC schools and we are waiting to see what universities they get accepted to.

NJROTC

HHS NJROTC and OHS AFJROTC Athletic Field Meet. Annual Military Inspection. The entire NJROTC unit will perform In-place Drill, Personnel Inspection, and Passing Review. Senior Inspecting Officer – Commanding Officer, Navy Recruiting District, Los Angeles, CA.

ENGLISH

The English department held its meeting today during collaboration time.  We discussed the upcoming open house, disseminating PSAT results, CAASPP, and elected a new department chair team for the 2017-2019 school years.  Congratulations to Sonia Herrejon and Claudine Muro, who will be co-chairing the department.

MATH

Math 2 will be completing their studies of quadratic functions and begin to study special right triangles. College Algebra will complete their study of exponential and logarithmic functions by applying their knowledge to real life situations, such as bacterial growth and banking interest.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

John Daly from Key Course spoke to Economic students about job resumes and students prepared resumes and applications.

ATHLETICS HIGHLIGHTS

Our beach volleyball team had their 1st league win yesterday, defeating Pacifica. Team 1, Angie Reza and Amanda VanGelder (pictured) won 21-17, 21-23, 15-6. Team 2, Hope Grande-Vega and Mya Kraus, won 21-13 and 21-19. Team 3, Karen Corona and Zenaida Alcantar, won 21-16, 21-19.  Our 4th team, Anahi Gonzales and Jocelyn Barrera scrimmaged Pacifica 1 set. This is our 1st win in the Channel League.  Today, our JV team will take on Pacifica in the Ventura harbor at 4pm. The courts are located off Spinnaker and Harbor Blvd.
