Thank you goes out to All faculty who have adjusted their schedules to ensure that our students are seen individually by their counselors for the registration process for 2017/2018. We are on the home stretch and juggling around testing, ROTC Inspections and the plethora of school activities all going on at the same time. We hope to wrap up registration by April 7th. Please continue to encourage your students to challenge themselves next year by enrolling for a rigorous program. There are many summer opportunities for them as well!

NJROTC – LCDR QUIATCHON & CHIEF HAYES
The 24th Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Annual Military Inspection was held on the 30th March 2017, 0900-1300 hrs. Our Senior Inspector this school year was CDR Aldrith Baker, Executive Officer, Navy Recruiting District, Los Angeles, CA. CDR Baker inspected the Hueneme HS NJROTC program to include personnel inspection, execution of drill exercises, pass-in-review, and general military knowledge. On a scale of “1 thru 5”, “5” being the highest grade, our cadets garnered “5” for Overall Cadet Appearance, Color Guards and Drill Demonstration, Pass-in-review, and Cadet Program Brief. 58 of 154 cadets received grades of “Outstanding” for their military uniform appearance and grooming standards.
The Awards and Ceremonial Parade Pass and Review were attended by the OUHSD Superintendent Dr. Penelope DeLeon, OUHSD Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Tom McCoy, Hueneme HS Principal Gary Mayeda, Hueneme HS Assistant Principal Allen Monroe, Oxnard City Mayor Figg, Military Service Members, Veterans, and a multitude of Parents. Our cadets displayed spectacular parade formation commands, marching skills, and display of drill exhibition.
Honor, Courage, and commitment were clearly demonstrated by our Hueneme HS NJROTC Cadets. As a summative assessment, patriotism, citizenship, duty and responsibility, and leadership were evidently displayed throughout the Annual Military Inspection and Ceremony.
Seniors in Economics are engaged in a web-quest designed to help them create their own business. Students will present their business plans and compete for the ” Best New Business of 2017″ award!
