Athletes
Athletes who wish to play collegiate sports must register through the NCAA Eligibility Center. An informational flyer on how to register is available in the College and Career Center or you may go on line to NCAAclearinghouse.com then go to the "NCAA Eligibility Center" and "Prospective Student Athlete."
Freshmen
- Work on accumulating community service hours you will need to have for scholarships in your senior year
- Check the College & Career Center for ideas of where to volunteer and for a sheet to keep track of your community service and volunteer activities
- Get familiar with the College & Career Center and what it offers to students
- Work Permits are available to students 14-17 years of age
Sophomores
- Open up a free e-mail account, if you don’t have one already, and make sure your e-mail address is appropriate for corresponding with colleges and employers. Give your e-mail address to Mrs. Creager in the Career Center, room 85, so she can keep you updated with current news on contests, college and career information, and jobs available
- Get involved in activities at your school or in the community
- Work on accumulating community service hours you will need to have for scholarships in your senior year
- Check the College & Career Center for ideas of where to volunteer and for a sheet to keep track of your community service and volunteer activities
- Keep up your grades. Sophomore grades and Junior grades count for scholarships, Cal Grants, and college admissions.
Juniors
- Students interested in ROP (Regional Occupational Program) for next year need to see Ms. Gomez
- Study for the SAT and/or ACT test
- Take the May 4th SAT test if you registered for it
- Register by May 2nd deadline for the June 1st SAT test
- Register by May 3rd deadline for the June 8th ACT test
- SAT/ACT fee waivers are available for students in a free/reduced lunch program and Upward Bound. Pamphlets with other eligibility info are available from Mr. Ramos
- Fee waivers can be picked up from Mr. Ramos if you qualify. His office is located east of the front office from the quad side
- Take the AP (Advanced Placement) exams
- Begin preparing essays for college admissions and scholarship applications
- Continue to explore colleges and financial aid opportunities
- Work on accumulating community service hours for scholarships
- Check the College & Career Center for ideas of where to volunteer
- Use FAFSA4caster to get an estimate of your eligibility for federal student aid – and shorten the time it will take you to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in your senior year when you apply for financial aid. Visit www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov
- Check for scholarships available to Juniors

Seniors
- Apply for scholarships
- Males 18 years of age – register for Selective Service at www.sss.gov. If you don’t have a Social Security #, see Mrs. Creager for the paper form.
- Look for a summer job, or consider summer school or an internship
- If you missed the March 2nd Cal Grant deadline, complete the FAFSA and contact your financial aid office to learn about other financial aid opportunities
- Send thank you notes to the teachers and counselors who helped you
- Enjoy the rest of your senior year!!!
