About the Counseling Department

All students at Hueneme High School have the right to participate in the school counseling program. All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.

The Hueneme High School counseling program is based on specific academic, personal/social and career goals as outlined in the American School Counselor Association National Model (2005) and is aligned with the 2007 California Results-Based School and Counseling and Students Support Guidelines.

The Hueneme High School comprehensive counseling program is based on specific goals and developmental appropriate student competencies for all students in grades 9-12.

The program is planned and coordinated with other school, parent/guardian, as well as community representatives and utilizes as many combined community resources to deliver the programs.

The counseling department utilizes the latest data available to assess the academic needs of our students and develops interventions to meet these needs.

The Hueneme High School counselors welcome the opportunity to be evaluated by the administrator assigned to the counselors and strive to enhance their knowledge base by adopting a "lifelong learner" model thus participating in conferences and workshops to keep current on counseling issues.

The Hueneme High School counselors abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated be the American School Counselor Association.
