The Medical Bilingual Pathway will give students the opportunity to learn about the medical field as well as work as medical interpreters. Students learn to facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers and patients who have limited English capabilities. They learn about healthcare institution operations, medical practices, and effective communication. The pathway includes instruction on medical conditions and treatments, grammar and sentence structure differences between English and Spanish, colloquial phrases, and medical vocabulary. The Medical Bilingual Pathway will prepare students not only for college, but also provide a head start in their careers. This immersive multi-year sequence of classes and work-based learning experiences prepares students for coursework and gives them a competitive advantage in the job market.
