Graduation Requirements
Students must earn a total of 230 credits to graduate and receive a diploma from Hueneme High School. This page contains three (3) different charts to explain how requirements and credits work:
- Chart 1 shows the number of required credits students must earn in any given subject area to meet graduation requirements compared to A-G university admission requirements. It also shows how requirements differ between the Classes of 2021-2023 and the Class of 2024.
- Chart 2 shows the possible number of credits students can earn in a traditional semester system.
- Chart 3 shows the possible number of credits students can earn in a quarter system.
For any students who plan to apply to a four-year university during the fall semester of their senior year, please remember, high school graduation requirements differ from A-G University admissions requirements. Please visit the University of California A-G Subject requirement page for detailed information. Also, please ensure your courses are A-G approved by checking the official UC A-G high school articulation list. Chart 1: High School Graduation Requirements
Students must earn grades of "D" or better to qualify for a high school diploma and grades of "C" or better to qualify for university admissions. The University of California (UC) system and many private colleges require grades of "B" or better to meet minimum admissions requirements. Community colleges do not have minimum grade requirements.

High School Graduation Credits
The number of classes a student takes and passes with a grade of "D" or better will determine the number of credits a student earns. Chart 2 shows the number of credits students can earn in a semester system and Chart 3 shows the number of credits students can earn in a quarter system.
Chart 2: Traditional Semester System
Each class in a semester is worth 5 credits.
6 classes X 5 credits each = 30 Credits

Chart 3: Quarter System
Each class in a quarter is worth 5 credits, and each quarter is equal to one semester of instruction. At Hueneme, most classes in Quarters 1 and 3 correspond to Semester 1 and Quarters 2 and Quarter 4 correspond to Semester 2.
In the first example below, 3 classes X 5 credits each = 15 Credits per Quarter
In the second example below, 4 classes X 5 credits each = 20 Credits per Quarter
