Community Schools
The California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) helps schools collaborate with community agencies and local partners to improve student outcomes by aligning resources. These partnerships enable schools to comprehensively address academics, health, and social services while promoting youth and community development. Community school strategies enhance a school's ability to meet the needs of students and families through integrated support services, active family and community engagement, collaborative leadership among educators and administrators, and extended learning opportunities.
Oxnard Union High School District’s (OUHSD) Community Schools Program, supported by a $4.75 million grant, will serve Hueneme High School and Channel Islands High School. This initiative will be led by Director Michele Ortiguerra, Coordinator Alexis Ortiz, and the CCSPP team. They will work closely with Principals Brenda Bravo and Marianne Ramos to implement the program, ensuring the integration of key community school components to benefit students and their families.
